Made in Thunder Bay
One person, one search box.
Carventory is built and run by Andrew Austin in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It exists because shopping for a used vehicle up here means opening twenty dealer websites and starting over every morning.
Why I built this
In 2024 I bought a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E from Dingwall Ford in Dryden. Finding it was the easy part. For weeks before that I was checking the same dealer websites across Northern Ontario and into Manitoba, every day, looking for other Mach-Es: new listings, price changes, vehicles that had quietly disappeared. Every site had its own search, its own filters, and no memory of what had been there yesterday. The national marketplaces did not help much either; plenty of local dealers were not on them, and the ones that were did not show what had changed.
I wanted one page that showed every dealer-listed vehicle in the region, remembered when each one appeared, what it was priced at, when the price moved, and when it was gone. That page did not exist, so I built it.
What Carventory is
- A search across dealership websites. Inventory is read from each dealer’s own site on a daily schedule and stored, so search is instant and never hits a dealer.
- A memory. Each listing shows when Carventory first saw it, every advertised price change we observed, and when it stopped being listed.
- Regional first. Thunder Bay, Dryden, Kenora, Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout, the North Shore and our Winnipeg expansion, with distance from your town on every result. See the full list of sources.
- Free to use, no account. Saved vehicles live in your browser. Nothing is tracked across sites.
What it is not
- Not a marketplace. Carventory does not sell vehicles, take listings, or accept payment from dealers for placement. Every result links to the dealer’s own page.
- Not private sales. Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace listings are not included. If you are shopping under about $10,000, check those too.
- Not complete. Some dealer websites cannot be read automatically, and Carventory does not work around access controls. The Sources page says exactly who is missing.
- Not a price guarantee. Prices are what the dealer advertised when we last looked. Confirm availability and the all-in price with the dealer before you drive.
